Back again? (update, don't have to read)

Wow! I knew last year had been a doozy of one but I hadn't realized I hadn't updated at all! I've had medical problems, lost faith in doctors, and solved my own issues through eating better and natural health alternatives. I'm feeling better than I have in years and I'm allowing myself to get everything back on track. This includes some serious Spring cleaning and allowing myself time to sew. It's not that I haven't sewn at all since my last post but it's come close. The quilts I wanted to finish are still waiting, fortunately they're patient, and I've bought new fabrics to work with, but haven't used it. My MIL has a project me & my daughter sew with her and it was finished last year. I would have posted pictures but blogging hasn't been on my radar. I'll post that soon. I'm so grateful for her starting these projects with us. It allows both of us the time to do something we love together and normally inspires me to sew mor...

It's been a hard few months...but I survived!

Well I'm back, I think. The main reason I've been gone is because I work retail and this Holiday season the store I work at did better than most. Then some unexpected family complications kept me away from sewing and the computer for a few more weeks until we got iced in. I hope everyone snowed under multiple feet of snow since Christmas are staying sane, healthy & warm. I did, at least, finally got back to a sewing machine while we were iced in. I finished 4 of these blocks from the blockofthemonth   group. I just need two more to catch back up. I'm really happy that my skills are better than I remembered! I hope I can keep up posting more but only time will tell. I feel really unsettled and scatterbrained so I won't be surprised if it takes me another mon...

Record snow fall in DFW!

It's been the largest amount of snow in 32 years falling all over the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex today. Some people have said they've lived here since the 30's and 40's and have never seen this kind of snow. It's a once in a generation occurrence and we're here to witness it. It's pretty awesome when you think about it. We put a ruler outside earlier today to measure it.   This 12 inch ruler showed about 8 inches at noon today and it hasn't stopped snowing. I looked outside earlier and the ruler had disappeared under the snow by 8 pm. The snow is still going strong now at 10 pm and isn't supposed to end until after 2 am in my area. I think if we were getting our normal heavy winds, it would have been a blizzard today. Fortunately the winds were light and our power didn't go out. There was so much snow we didn't have to settle for making a snowman today. My husband and kids made a snow beast. It was supposed to be a moose but we didn'...
